Playing with a Redness Concealer – Free Formulation / Recipe

Up until now I have made many types of lotions, creams, cosmetics, and serums, but I have never attempted any make-up.  I thought that I might give it a try to see if I have any luck!

I have rosacea.  It’s not a serious case of it or anything, just some general redness and spider veins here and there.   I have a little on my face and as you will see, on my hands too.

Many times people use green tinted products to minimize redness, but green products can look unnatural depending on the light.  Yellow is perhaps less effective than green, but it is still a fairly good redness minimizer.  Yellow can also minimize dark spots, dark under eye circles,  and even out skin tone in general.

I decided to put my lotion making skills to work and see if I couldn’t formulate a concealer that contained some ingredients that are purported to be beneficial to rosacea skin as well. Continue reading “Playing with a Redness Concealer – Free Formulation / Recipe”

It’s Ridiculous!

I spent the weekend again “not” making soap or lotion again.   I confess, it felt great to do something a little different, but I am getting ready to go back to soaping, probably next weekend.

My son told me that while he was cleaning out his storage unit, somebody walked away with a box of his Christmas decorations.    Several years ago I had made him and his fiancée’ ridiculously large Christmas stockings. They loved them! They have a fondness for ridiculous things.  Unfortunately, those stockings were in the box that walked away. 😦

Since the two of them are getting married next month, I decided to make them a new pair of Christmas stockings, just as ridiculous as the last ones.  This should help them celebrate their first Christmas as husband and wife! Continue reading “It’s Ridiculous!”

Waterless Weekend

Due to some scheduled maintenance on the water system in our house over the weekend, I was unable to make any soap or lotions.    That didn’t stop me though — I simply broke out the ol’ knitting machine.   A girl’s gotta do something to keep out of trouble…er….keep busy! Teas and Tisanes – Tasty Experiments – Ten Free Recipes

I didn’t feel much like doing anything too crafty today.  I am getting ready to go back to work tomorrow because my vacation is sadly over. 😦

Instead of making soap, lotions, sewing or doing any of that stuff, I decided to dip into my herb stash and do some experiments of the tasty kind.

I don’t have any tea drinkers in my family, so this was “just for me”.   However, I wanted to make them look pretty too, just in case I do find a tea drinker, so I could have a presentable gift for them.

Menagerie – Vacation Round-Up

Hi all!  I have been away for a couple of weeks.  I needed a break from work and from book writing, and maybe a little bit from creating too.   I took 2 weeks to do just “whatever” instead of having a plan.  Sometimes that is good for the soul!

My plans were somewhat interrupted due to the recent hurricanes and preparations for the next ones.  This made me have a “working vacation” since it caused some extra work at work.  At least I got to enjoy some free time in between “on call” events.

I started out  last weekend with a quick visit “up north” to see my sister, nieces, and deliver all the goodies I have been making them.    It was a nice trip, a beautiful day, and very enjoyable.  Needless to say everything I gifted them was well-received.  Especially the bath bombs — always the bath bombs!
