Body Butter, Oil-Free Facial Moisturizer and Light Body Lotion

I had a blast this weekend making a few more lotions.   Yesterday, I made a dupe lotion of the Ellis Brooklyn – Verb – Excellent Body Milk product and posted the free analytical recipe.   Today I made 3 more lotions, just as wonderful!

This time, I made a body butter, an oil-free, under make-up facial moisturizer, and a light  body lotion.

Analytical Recipe – Possible dupe of Ellis Brooklyn – Verb – Excellent Body Milk

It has been quite a while since I did a post with an analytical recipe, so today, I have a new one to share with you.

While shopping for beauty products recently, I came across one that looked “duplicatable”.   When looking for a lotion that is “duplicatable”, I look at the ingredients list and see what I have in my stock, or could potentially purchase, to make the recipe.   Many times, commercial brands use ingredients that are not readily available in the “home crafting” market, so you can’t really duplicate them identically.

Soap…Life…Lotion

I am short on words this week.  I just can’t think of anything much to say other than what a lovely weekend it was!  So I guess I will just dive in to the details this time, rather than waxing philosophic.

A little of this…a little of that

I wasn’t feeling terribly motivated or organized this weekend, so I just kind of made it up as I went along .  I started out with no plan at all, but ended up making a few cute things to share today.

Friday night I thought I would start out with something very simple so I opted for some melt and pour soaps — but not just “any” melt and pour soaps.  These are for the kids for Halloween.

Then Saturday, I felt like sewing. I recently bought some new makeup and found that my makeup is all over the place, floating around in my bathroom drawer.  So I sewed myself some cosmetic bags to organize them.

Today, despite my pitifully inadequate bathtub — I felt like taking a soaking bath.  Since I have no bath bombs of my own, I made some just for me.

New Lotion, Conditioner and Refills (and something new for the apothecary)

Besides making soap this weekend, I also made quite a bit of lotion.

In my last post, I talked about my experience with Wheatgerm Oil Soap and said I would comment some more on my experiment with Wheatgerm Oil Conditioner.  You will find that below.

On Friday, I published an entry about my experiment with making a redness concealer.

Saturday, I made a refill of my Tsunami lotion, because I already used up 16 ounces that I made a couple of months ago.

And today, I made a new lotion, using Nurture Soap’s “Black Pearl” fragrance. Continue reading “New Lotion, Conditioner and Refills (and something new for the apothecary)”

Wheatgerm Oil – Soapy Experiments – Daphne and Velma

I have been tempted for the longest time to purchase some wheatgerm oil for soaping and lotion.  I remember back in the 1970’s using Faberge’ Organics Wheat Germ Oil and Honey products and always loved how it made my hair feel.   Finally I did buy some wheatgerm oil a few weeks ago!   So this weekend, I made a couple batches of soap and a conditioner (more on that later).
