Day 3 Part 2 – Sunday Evening

Ok, I did say “a” thing a day on vacation right?  I am such a rule breaker!   To be fair though, the things I made this evening were all relatively quick and easy, so they should only count as one thing.

Tonight I finished up my Island Escape Lotion and made an Oil Serum, Goddess Balm, and an experimental surfactant-based Scrub.

A Thing a Day on Vacation – Day 3 – Sunday Afternoon

What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than making things for someone you love?   That is just what I did today. On Sunday afternoon’s docket… Len’s Dry Feeling Lotion!

While that was cooling, I took some photographs, and wrapped up my last couple batches of bath bombs.

Then I found another spare hour somewhere, and also made a batch of Island Escape lotion for my niece, Sheri.  I don’t have it done yet, so I will  have to post those pictures tonight or tomorrow.

Day 2 – Part 2

After dinner tonight, I got a second wind and decided to scratch one more item off my “to do” list for vacation. Since I got a couple requests for more of this, “Dew – Oil-Free Under Make-up Moisturizer”, I  decided to make this my next little project for the evening. Progress — Despite the Curse

I swear I am cursed when it comes to kitchen scales.  I go through them like crazy.   Seems like every few months I am having to buy a new one.  My most recent one died a week ago, delaying my progress in making my lotion refills.

We went out shopping this week to an outlet mall.   There was a kitchen store there, so we popped in and bought a scale.  It’s a Cuisinart kitchen scale and it wasn’t terribly cheap (I think we paid about $40 for it).

So I get it home and start measuring out my dinner.   Oh, good lord!   Who makes a scale that shows you the measurement in fractions rather than decimals?   Well, apparently Cuisinart does.  Of course there was no indication of this on the outside of the box to warn me!  (So frustrated)!!!! An Announcement and a Free Emulgel Formula! Celebrate with Me!

I had a number of things I wanted to accomplish this weekend, including a new batch of soap and lotion.   The fates were not on my side though.  Friday night, my scale went “kaput”. Without a scale to use, I had to change gears and do something else this weekend.  Seriously, I burn through scales like crazy.  This must be the third one in the past year!

On the knitting front, however, I have more progress to announce.   My new company – LD Knitwear – has completed the testing phase with the Dublin Mitts and Carousel Cowl patterns and published the patterns on Ravelry!  Hooray!

To properly celebrate, I have decided to offer a free formula for making my all-time-favorite-can’t-live-without-it-concoction:

Remains of Winter – What to do in an ice storm

It is unseasonably terrible outside today.  In fact, it has been so all weekend long.   A late winter ice storm is slowly blowing through and we are under a winter storm warning.

It is mid-April and we should be getting some early spring-like weather here in Michigan, but instead, we get this: Continue reading “Remains of Winter – What to do in an ice storm”
