Hi all! I have been away for a couple of weeks. I needed a break from work and from book writing, and maybe a little bit from creating too. I took 2 weeks to do just “whatever” instead of having a plan. Sometimes that is good for the soul!
My plans were somewhat interrupted due to the recent hurricanes and preparations for the next ones. This made me have a “working vacation” since it caused some extra work at work. At least I got to enjoy some free time in between “on call” events.
I started out last weekend with a quick visit “up north” to see my sister, nieces, and deliver all the goodies I have been making them. It was a nice trip, a beautiful day, and very enjoyable. Needless to say everything I gifted them was well-received. Especially the bath bombs — always the bath bombs! Continue reading “Menagerie – Vacation Round-Up”
I am happy to announce an upcoming free Kindle book promotion deal on Amazon.com for my book Pure and Mild Soap: Natural & Nature Identical Cold Process Soaps.
The deal starts Friday, 28-April and ends Saturday, 29-April. After that it goes back to it’s normal low price of $2.99 USD.
Update: the promotion is expired now, but thanks to all who downloaded the book. There were 473 downloads in total! Not too bad for a 2 day promotion!

I think my husband was a monk in a previous life. He likes everything plain and simple. The same holds true for his soap. He likes plain, un-fancy, un-scented soap. He will accept goat milk, even though it might be a little bit sinfully decadent.
Last week I made him a batch of plain-jane goat milk soap and this week it was finally ready to unmold and cut.

Another weekend has come and gone already, but not without something to show for it!
I spent the weekend making a couple of soaps and bath / body products. In all I got 9 things completed. Continue reading “Busy Weekend = Fun Weekend”
On Saturday I posted a teaser for a couple of soaps that I made that day. Today I unmolded and cut them. As promised, I am posting the “after” pictures.

I am so happy that it’s Saturday again. Weekdays go by so slowly lately, that it seems Saturdays are not very often, even though they occur once a week. However, on Saturday, I am enjoying myself, so they go by so fast it’s like they didn’t even happen.
My favorite thing to do on a Saturday is to make soap. Today I got to make 2 batches. Continue reading “Saturday Soap”
Recently I posted a couple of blog entries about a misbehaving batch of Apricot soap and about my search for a perfect shampoo bar. Today I cut those soaps and thought I would post the results.
Honesty, neither batch turned out as bad as I thought they would. With all the problems the apricot soap had, I am surprised it turned out at all, but after I plopped it all back into the mixing bowl and blended it some more, it seemed to do the trick.
