I have been tempted for the longest time to purchase some wheatgerm oil for soaping and lotion. I remember back in the 1970’s using Faberge’ Organics Wheat Germ Oil and Honey products and always loved how it made my hair feel. Finally I did buy some wheatgerm oil a few weeks ago! So this weekend, I made a couple batches of soap and a conditioner (more on that later). Continue reading “Wheatgerm Oil – Soapy Experiments – Daphne and Velma”
Hi all! I have been away for a couple of weeks. I needed a break from work and from book writing, and maybe a little bit from creating too. I took 2 weeks to do just “whatever” instead of having a plan. Sometimes that is good for the soul!
My plans were somewhat interrupted due to the recent hurricanes and preparations for the next ones. This made me have a “working vacation” since it caused some extra work at work. At least I got to enjoy some free time in between “on call” events.
I started out last weekend with a quick visit “up north” to see my sister, nieces, and deliver all the goodies I have been making them. It was a nice trip, a beautiful day, and very enjoyable. Needless to say everything I gifted them was well-received. Especially the bath bombs — always the bath bombs! Continue reading “Menagerie – Vacation Round-Up”
I posted over the weekend about three soaps I had made – Patchouli & Spearmint, Ginger, Carrot & Orange, and Dragon’s Fire. Today they were finally ready to un-mold (sort of) and I got a chance to cut them and get a few pictures.
Time again for my weekly wrap-up! It was quite a weekend.
Friday night I made two soaps: Spearmint Patchouli and Carrot Ginger Orange.
Saturday I made 4 lotions – Dry feeling lotion, luxury facial cream, luxury facial lotion, luxury conditioner.
Today I made one more soap (Dragons’ Fire) and got my pictures taken and measured the pH of my lotions.
I’d say I had a great time! I love my weekends! And next week is a long weekend because I am taking July 3rd off work (the day before the US Independence day Holiday). So I will have a 4 day weekend! Can’t wait! Continue reading “What a weekend it was!”
Friday night my husband was away, so I took the opportunity to play!
I made 2 new batches of soap – Orange Ginger and Spearmint Patchouli. They will not be ready to unmold for a few days, So I will have to come back later and post pictures if they turn out. Continue reading “Getting back into the swing – with soaps”
When I visited my niece last weekend, she made a special request for some more french green clay soap. She said she really enjoyed the scent and liked using it to wash her face. She was almost out and wanted more.
I am on vacation from work this week, so I have plenty of free time to fill, doing what I love. So today, I made a refill batch of french green clay soap for her.
I am happy to announce an upcoming free Kindle book promotion deal on Amazon.com for my book Pure and Mild Soap: Natural & Nature Identical Cold Process Soaps.
The deal starts Friday, 28-April and ends Saturday, 29-April. After that it goes back to it’s normal low price of $2.99 USD.
Update: the promotion is expired now, but thanks to all who downloaded the book. There were 473 downloads in total! Not too bad for a 2 day promotion!
