For the past few months, I have been enjoying a simple cup of herbal tisane in the evenings made from Peppermint Leaf and Chamomile Flowers.
While I absolutely love that combination, I expanded my horizons and purchased some Holy Basil (Tulsi) to try!
I was a bit skeptical, because “basil” is not exactly an herb you think about when it comes to tea, but everyone seems to love Tulsi tea, so I thought, “Why not?”.

As I wrap up my Christmas “making” for this vacation, I am thankful for all the free time I had this week to make so much. It’s incredible! My dining room is absolutely overflowing with bath and body products and it smells like heaven in there!
Today was spent making balms and bombs… all things herbal (and one not so herbal).

Vacation is over after today, sadly, but I did get a lot of rest and relaxation in — in the form of soap-making (which for me is R&R).
I had mixed success because I was trying new recipes, incorporating lard. I didn’t have any “total” failures, but I did have a batch stick to the mold, and a couple others that thickened quickly, so the swirls weren’t as nice as I would have hoped. Still, I think the soaps turned out “interesting” enough, and will likely be very good, solid bars. They are going to be Christmas gifts for my family and friends.
Besides the soap, I also got a couple refill batches of lotion made (my Biotone Massage Lotion clone and my nighttime lavender & benzoin lotion). And, I also made herb infused oils, Melissa lip balm and Lemongrass Pain Relief Balm. So even though I started out without any plans, I managed to fill my days productively.

After all that shopping yesterday, I am wiped out! Luckily it isn’t very hard (nor does it take too much energy) to make soap!
Today, for my final two vacation soaps, I gave the lard another try. I made two batches with the same recipe (just slight modifications to it for each). Continue reading “Final Two Vacation Soaps”
It’s the mid-way through vacation already, but I feel like I have already begun to amass a week’s worth of crafting (so that is a sign of a well-spent vacation!).
Today I was quite busy as I made two soaps and a lotion. I also managed to get a couple of the malas I made for my husband photographed as well. Continue reading “Wednesday Vacation Power!”
It’s finally vacation and I have adequate time to devote to refilling all the stuff I made and now can’t live without!
Today I had a busy day making refills — so many refills!

It has been far too hot this summer to run my roaster oven to make herb infused oils. Yes I could have made them using the longer method of brewing them for weeks and weeks and shaking them up in between, but I am far too impatient for that nonsense!
Well today, it was still hot, but I decided to go ahead and make the infusions anyhow because I need them for my vacation this week. Continue reading “Herbal Potion Balms”
