There was a little experimental soap making on my mind ever since I thought a few weeks ago about adding Rooibos tea to a soap recipe. This weekend I took on the challenge! Continue reading “Experimental Rooibos Tea Soap with Diatomaceous Earth”
I recently posted about a surfactant formula I made having to do with a shampoo. The formula did produce a shampoo and it works just fine, but I felt it dried my hair too much. I decided today, instead of another shampoo, to try a facial cleanser instead.
Digging into my stash of lotion making goodies, I decided to make an apple, willow bark facial cleanser, packed full of moisture and skin-loving goodness. Continue reading “Apple Willow Bark Foaming Facial Cleanser Experiment (and some odds and ends)”
This soap was the shining achievement of my weekend! I am so happy with it.
I have made this soap before, and it is my new favorite, but I just started on my last bar of it in the shower, so it was time to make another batch. It should cure out just in time for my last bar to be used up. Continue reading “Rhassoul Clay Palm Free Soap Refill”
Around Christmas time, I invested in a few surfactants and related chemicals for delving into the “surfactant” arena. I made a couple of shampoo recipes, but they did not turn out the greatest.
I learned that there is such thing as “polar” and “non-polar” fragrances, and that having the wrong type can cause cloudiness in your formulation. Guess which kind I have? (yeah– the cloudy kind).
I took a little break from soap making over the holidays and to get through a busy time at work, but now that things have slowed a bit, I decided to give it another whirl.
Santa brought me a chemistry set this year — stocked full of new and exciting things! Surfactants!
So what did I do with them? Well, I managed to not blow up the kitchen, so that was good… but it wasn’t exactly a success on my first rodeo either! Continue reading “Santa brought a chemistry set!”
Whatever you celebrate this time of year, I hope it is enjoyable! Continue reading “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays!”
I am short on words this week. I just can’t think of anything much to say other than what a lovely weekend it was! So I guess I will just dive in to the details this time, rather than waxing philosophic.
