Day 3 Part 2 – Sunday Evening

Ok, I did say “a” thing a day on vacation right?  I am such a rule breaker!   To be fair though, the things I made this evening were all relatively quick and easy, so they should only count as one thing.

Tonight I finished up my Island Escape Lotion and made an Oil Serum, Goddess Balm, and an experimental surfactant-based Scrub.

A Thing a Day on Vacation – Day 3 – Sunday Afternoon

What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than making things for someone you love?   That is just what I did today. On Sunday afternoon’s docket… Len’s Dry Feeling Lotion!

While that was cooling, I took some photographs, and wrapped up my last couple batches of bath bombs.

Then I found another spare hour somewhere, and also made a batch of Island Escape lotion for my niece, Sheri.  I don’t have it done yet, so I will  have to post those pictures tonight or tomorrow.

Day 2 – Part 2

After dinner tonight, I got a second wind and decided to scratch one more item off my “to do” list for vacation. Since I got a couple requests for more of this, “Dew – Oil-Free Under Make-up Moisturizer”, I  decided to make this my next little project for the evening. A thing a day on vacation – Day 2

Day 2 of vacation and as I suspected, the smell of the bath bombs I made last night were enough to motivate me to make some more today!  On today’s docket…. Rose and Mallow Milk Bombs!

A Thing a Day on Vacation

FINALLY it’s vacation again.  It’s been a long, busy few months since I’ve had one.   I couldn’t wait to get a head start on this, my first night of vacation!

Since I have been knitting and not making bath/body/soap for a while, I have no gifts made up yet for my sister’s birthday in August.   Luckily I still have a little time before then, so I am going to use a large part of this vacation to play “catch-up” and get a good start on all the things I want to make for her (and my nieces).

Progress — Despite the Curse

I swear I am cursed when it comes to kitchen scales.  I go through them like crazy.   Seems like every few months I am having to buy a new one.  My most recent one died a week ago, delaying my progress in making my lotion refills.

We went out shopping this week to an outlet mall.   There was a kitchen store there, so we popped in and bought a scale.  It’s a Cuisinart kitchen scale and it wasn’t terribly cheap (I think we paid about $40 for it).

So I get it home and start measuring out my dinner.   Oh, good lord!   Who makes a scale that shows you the measurement in fractions rather than decimals?   Well, apparently Cuisinart does.  Of course there was no indication of this on the outside of the box to warn me!  (So frustrated)!!!! Apple Willow Bark Foaming Facial Cleanser Experiment (and some odds and ends)

I recently posted about a surfactant formula I made  having to do with a shampoo. The formula did produce a shampoo and it works just fine, but I felt it dried my hair too much.  I decided today, instead of another shampoo, to try a facial cleanser instead.

Digging into my stash of lotion making goodies, I decided to make an apple, willow bark facial cleanser, packed full of moisture and skin-loving goodness. Continue reading “Apple Willow Bark Foaming Facial Cleanser Experiment (and some odds and ends)”
