Time again for my weekly wrap-up! It was quite a weekend.
Friday night I made two soaps: Spearmint Patchouli and Carrot Ginger Orange.
Saturday I made 4 lotions – Dry feeling lotion, luxury facial cream, luxury facial lotion, luxury conditioner.
Today I made one more soap (Dragons’ Fire) and got my pictures taken and measured the pH of my lotions.
I’d say I had a great time! I love my weekends! And next week is a long weekend because I am taking July 3rd off work (the day before the US Independence day Holiday). So I will have a 4 day weekend! Can’t wait! Continue reading “What a weekend it was!”
After making soap last night, I feel like I got that out of my system for a little while. So today, I chose to use my Saturday to make a few more lotions.
Today I made my husband a “dry feeling” lotion, I also made a luxury facial cream and a luxury hair conditioner.
What makes something a luxury? I don’t think there is a definition for this, but I use it whenever I use luxury oils, butters, or additives. For example, if something contained just sweet almond oil, olive oil, and cocoa butter, I would not call that luxury. But if something contains oils like rosehip seed, evening primrose, olive squalane, or camellia seed oils, or expensive butters like murumuru, cupuacu, or tucuma, then I would call those luxury. Those are more expensive and exotic oils and tend to have different or “special” properties that can be used to tailor products to different skin types or skin issues (such as wrinkles, pigmentation and so forth).

Wow, this weekend went by so fast it! I can’t believe it is already over, but I guess that means that I enjoyed myself so much that time flew. Because I took pictures today, and had some chores to take care of, I only got time to get 2 more lotions completed. That’s 6 for the weekend — not bad at all!

It’s Saturday and I am at it again — making a mess in my kitchen.
Today, I made 4 different batches of lotions and every one of them (knock on wood) has turned out perfectly — exactly as I envisioned them. I love when that happens.
I won’t get a chance to get good pictures of the final products until tomorrow, but I took plenty of “making” pictures today! Continue reading “4 Attempts – 4 Successes – Perfect Saturday!”
With another great vacation behind me, I wanted to do a quick wrap up of all the fun I had. I love to look back over my creations and see the fruits of my labors all in one place. It is too easy to forget all the ground you covered otherwise! Continue reading “June 2017 Vacation Round-Up / Slideshow”
Today is officially the last day of my vacation. Tomorrow it is back to spreadsheets, meetings and long hours of I.T. related work.
As I decided to sleep in today rather than get up and have an early start to my day, I only got 2 things made, but they both turned out great, so I am happy!
Today, I made 2 lotions – Cocoa-Nuts Lotion and Vanilla Cream Moisture Therapy Hair Conditioner.

While Cetaphil is not the most luxurious lotion in the world, nor the most costly, it is something I have gone through a lot of at my house. I have used much less since I started making my own lotions, but I still use it from time-to-time when I want an unscented moisturizer.
I don’t spend nearly as much money on it as I used to, but I wanted to try to duplicate the recipe just the same. It’s fun, educational, and rewarding to do! Continue reading “Analytical Recipe – A Possible Dupe for Cetaphil Lotion”
