I am short on words this week. I just can’t think of anything much to say other than what a lovely weekend it was! So I guess I will just dive in to the details this time, rather than waxing philosophic.
I wasn’t feeling terribly motivated or organized this weekend, so I just kind of made it up as I went along . I started out with no plan at all, but ended up making a few cute things to share today.
Friday night I thought I would start out with something very simple so I opted for some melt and pour soaps — but not just “any” melt and pour soaps. These are for the kids for Halloween.
Then Saturday, I felt like sewing. I recently bought some new makeup and found that my makeup is all over the place, floating around in my bathroom drawer. So I sewed myself some cosmetic bags to organize them.
Today, despite my pitifully inadequate bathtub — I felt like taking a soaking bath. Since I have no bath bombs of my own, I made some just for me.
Up until now I have made many types of lotions, creams, cosmetics, and serums, but I have never attempted any make-up. I thought that I might give it a try to see if I have any luck!
I have rosacea. It’s not a serious case of it or anything, just some general redness and spider veins here and there. I have a little on my face and as you will see, on my hands too.
Many times people use green tinted products to minimize redness, but green products can look unnatural depending on the light. Yellow is perhaps less effective than green, but it is still a fairly good redness minimizer. Yellow can also minimize dark spots, dark under eye circles, and even out skin tone in general.
I decided to put my lotion making skills to work and see if I couldn’t formulate a concealer that contained some ingredients that are purported to be beneficial to rosacea skin as well. Continue reading “Playing with a Redness Concealer – Free Formulation / Recipe”
Hi all! I have been away for a couple of weeks. I needed a break from work and from book writing, and maybe a little bit from creating too. I took 2 weeks to do just “whatever” instead of having a plan. Sometimes that is good for the soul!
My plans were somewhat interrupted due to the recent hurricanes and preparations for the next ones. This made me have a “working vacation” since it caused some extra work at work. At least I got to enjoy some free time in between “on call” events.
I started out last weekend with a quick visit “up north” to see my sister, nieces, and deliver all the goodies I have been making them. It was a nice trip, a beautiful day, and very enjoyable. Needless to say everything I gifted them was well-received. Especially the bath bombs — always the bath bombs! Continue reading “Menagerie – Vacation Round-Up”
Who doesn’t love a rich, creamy, decadent body butter?
What if it also had lanolin and a host of other skin-loving goodies in it as well? It would be a fantastic foot butter, great for dry skin and feet!
But wait — there’s more! What if it also contained oils, butter and emulsifiers that were great for your hair! It would also function as a thick, intensive hair conditioning cream!
Better yet — below is a free recipe for this wonderful creation! Continue reading “Free Recipe – Lavender, Rosemary & Mint Foot, Body and Hair Butter”
Have you heard of “selfish crafting”? This is when you make things and keep them for yourself. I don’t totally buy in that it’s selfish to do so. Many of us crafters make so much that we have to give it away or sell it. Often we neglect making things for ourselves. Well, this weekend, everything I made is for ME! 🙂
So what did I make? I made a remake of my Argan Silk Peach Conditioner (that I previously blogged about here). I made myself a couple foot butters, and a body butter.
I’ve been at it again, messing up my kitchen, filling my house with fragrances, and overflowing my dining room table with finished products! I wouldn’t change a thing about it though — I am having so much fun!
This weekend I managed to make 5 things: Telangyn Peptide Lotion, Gladback Collagen Facial Serum Spray, Oatmeal Milk & Honey Whipped Body Butter, Facial Clay Masks, and Body Balms.
I think I am done now with making everything for my sister’s birthday visit, but I keep thinking of more things to make. Good thing there is only one more weekend left before I see her because I am running out of room!
