Time again for my weekly wrap-up! It was quite a weekend.
Friday night I made two soaps: Spearmint Patchouli and Carrot Ginger Orange.
Saturday I made 4 lotions – Dry feeling lotion, luxury facial cream, luxury facial lotion, luxury conditioner.
Today I made one more soap (Dragons’ Fire) and got my pictures taken and measured the pH of my lotions.
I’d say I had a great time! I love my weekends! And next week is a long weekend because I am taking July 3rd off work (the day before the US Independence day Holiday). So I will have a 4 day weekend! Can’t wait! Continue reading “What a weekend it was!”
It’s Saturday and I am at it again — making a mess in my kitchen.
Today, I made 4 different batches of lotions and every one of them (knock on wood) has turned out perfectly — exactly as I envisioned them. I love when that happens.
I won’t get a chance to get good pictures of the final products until tomorrow, but I took plenty of “making” pictures today! Continue reading “4 Attempts – 4 Successes – Perfect Saturday!”
Only one more day left of my vacation from work, so I am really working to get my “to do list” done. I had a list of lotions that I wanted to get done on vacation, but “complications arose, ensued, were overcome”. Due to my hot water heater being out for 3 days of this vacation, I didn’t get as much done as I would have liked, but I did get most of my recreation accomplished. I feel refreshed (but not necessarily ready to go back to work). Oh well, one more day and it’s back to the grind again until the next one.
Today I made 3 lotions and I am very pleased with how all of them turned out.
- Anti-Aging Facial Lotion (I haven’t thought of a good name for it yet)
- “My Precious” Baby Lotion
- Molokai Cocktail Lotion

When I visited my niece last weekend, she made a special request for some more french green clay soap. She said she really enjoyed the scent and liked using it to wash her face. She was almost out and wanted more.
I am on vacation from work this week, so I have plenty of free time to fill, doing what I love. So today, I made a refill batch of french green clay soap for her.

Around Christmas time, I made a hemp bergamot cream. I have been using it for months and was down to my last bit of it, so tonight I revisited the recipe to make some more.
Since I made it the first time, I have acquired a few new ingredients, so I reformulated the recipe to include more skin goodies. I wanted to make this into a dual purpose intensive body cream as well as a deep conditioning hair mask / conditioner this time.
I decided to call this one “Tsunami” because it drenches you in waves of moisture. Continue reading “Time for a Refill!”
I made another five lotions this weekend. Out of the five I made, two failed and three turned out wonderfully. I consider that a success!
I am trying out my lotion formulation spreadsheet that I made and trying to see if my calculations produce a good lotion product. In most cases, they do, but sometimes, whether due to human error, or the lotion gremlins (which I suspect really do exist), some recipes just don’t work. I am not sure this weekend’s failures were due to the recipes, though.
This weekend I made five lotions:
- Coffee Sesame and Cupuacu Under Eye Cream
- Vanilla Cocoa Hazelnut Lotion
- Vanilla Aloe Mallow Lotion
- Lush Dupe – Pink Peppermint Foot Cream
- Lush Dupe – Softy Foot Cream

Goddess Glow Cleansing Grains:
Natural cleansing grains are all the rage these days. High end beauty product lines, fancy stores, and boutiques all seem to carry them. Unfortunately, they often come with a hefty price tag. For the price you would pay at one of these stores, you can have a year’s supply or more of your own brand of cleansing grains that is tailored for your specific skin type and preferences.
