When I first made this lotion, I didn’t care too much for the smell. I didn’t hate it, but I thought it was a little bit odd. It smelled vaguely familiar, like an old memory. Perhaps a bit like a baby lotion or other gentle scent from my past. The longer I used it though, the more I came to really enjoy this scent.
I use this lotion every night before bed. The scent is relaxing and helps me fall asleep. Now I can’t live without this lotion –and I ran out of it around Tuesday last week, so it went on my “weekend to-do list”.
I have blogged about this lotion in the past, but I don’t think I ever posted the formula for it. If I did, then it still wouldn’t have the most recent changes to the formula which I adjusted to make the lotion a little thinner. In any case, below is a free formula for this wonderful lotion so you can have some too!

I had forgotten how much fun it is to try to work out analytical recipes. I will have to do that more often. Tonight I did another one — this time for Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Sheer Hydration Lotion.

Last night I mentioned a few more projects on my “to do” list for vacation. One was another “analytical” recipe and another was Micellar Water. Well, I combined them into one project and decided to do an analytical Micellar Water recipe!

I had a number of things I wanted to accomplish this weekend, including a new batch of soap and lotion. The fates were not on my side though. Friday night, my scale went “kaput”. Without a scale to use, I had to change gears and do something else this weekend. Seriously, I burn through scales like crazy. This must be the third one in the past year!
On the knitting front, however, I have more progress to announce. My new company – LD Knitwear – has completed the testing phase with the Dublin Mitts and Carousel Cowl patterns and published the patterns on Ravelry! Hooray!
To properly celebrate, I have decided to offer a free formula for making my all-time-favorite-can’t-live-without-it-concoction:

I recently posted about a surfactant formula I made having to do with a shampoo. The formula did produce a shampoo and it works just fine, but I felt it dried my hair too much. I decided today, instead of another shampoo, to try a facial cleanser instead.
Digging into my stash of lotion making goodies, I decided to make an apple, willow bark facial cleanser, packed full of moisture and skin-loving goodness. Continue reading “Apple Willow Bark Foaming Facial Cleanser Experiment (and some odds and ends)”
Time to celebrate! My Aristoflex AVC finally arrived and I have created a gel cream. Hooray!
Since this was my first formula using Aristoflex AVC, I kept it very simple so as not to waste too much money should I fail. Luckily, it turned out wonderful, but any time there is a new ingredient, I try to be safe.
Today I am sharing the formula with you in case you would like to try a simple, small batch formula using this emulsifier.

After my failed experiments with Sepimax Zen a couple of weeks ago, I continued my pursuit of a better way to make a gel that was non-sticky and didn’t smell like a plastic factory. That pursuit led me to order some “Preneutralized Carbomer” from Lotioncrafter.
Pre-neutralized carbomer is a sodium carbomer that does not have to have the pH adjusted in order to turn into a gel. I read the data sheet on it and it is apparently a product called PNC 400. There are other carbomers that do require you add something to raise the pH in order to get them to gel, but the pre neutralized kind sounded much easier to me, and it was inexpensive, so I bought some.
Today my Lotioncrafter package arrived, so tonight I whipped up a batch of gel. Continue reading “New Gel Experiment – Vitamin B Under Eye Gel”
