New Lotion, Conditioner and Refills (and something new for the apothecary)

Besides making soap this weekend, I also made quite a bit of lotion.

In my last post, I talked about my experience with Wheatgerm Oil Soap and said I would comment some more on my experiment with Wheatgerm Oil Conditioner.  You will find that below.

On Friday, I published an entry about my experiment with making a redness concealer.

Saturday, I made a refill of my Tsunami lotion, because I already used up 16 ounces that I made a couple of months ago.

And today, I made a new lotion, using Nurture Soap’s “Black Pearl” fragrance. Continue reading “New Lotion, Conditioner and Refills (and something new for the apothecary)”

Free Recipe – Lavender, Rosemary & Mint Foot, Body and Hair Butter

Who doesn’t love a rich, creamy, decadent body butter?

What if it also had lanolin and a host of other skin-loving goodies in it as well?   It would be a fantastic foot butter, great for dry skin and feet!

But wait — there’s more!   What if it also contained oils, butter and emulsifiers that were great for your hair!   It would also function as a thick, intensive hair conditioning cream!

Better yet — below is a free recipe for this wonderful creation! Continue reading “Free Recipe – Lavender, Rosemary & Mint Foot, Body and Hair Butter”

Selfish Crafting Weekend

Have you heard of “selfish crafting”?   This is when you make things and keep them for yourself.  I don’t totally buy in that it’s selfish to do so.   Many of us crafters make so much that we have to give it away or sell it.  Often we neglect making things for ourselves.   Well, this weekend, everything I made is for ME!  🙂

So what did I make?  I made a remake of my Argan Silk Peach Conditioner (that I previously blogged about here).  I made myself a couple foot butters, and a body butter.

What a weekend it was!

Time again for my weekly wrap-up!   It was quite a weekend.

Friday night I made two soaps:  Spearmint Patchouli and Carrot Ginger Orange.

Saturday I made 4 lotions – Dry feeling lotion, luxury facial cream, luxury facial lotion, luxury conditioner.

Today I made one more soap (Dragons’ Fire) and got my pictures taken and measured the pH of my lotions.

I’d say I had a great time!  I love my weekends!    And next week is a long weekend because I am taking July 3rd off work (the day before the US Independence day Holiday). So I will have a 4 day weekend!  Can’t wait! Continue reading “What a weekend it was!”

3 New Lotions Today

After making soap last night, I feel like I got that out of my system for a little while.   So today, I chose to use my Saturday to make a few more lotions.

Today I made my husband a “dry feeling” lotion, I also made a luxury facial cream and a luxury hair conditioner.

What makes something a luxury?  I don’t think there is a definition for this, but I use it whenever I use luxury oils, butters, or additives.   For example, if something contained just sweet almond oil, olive oil, and cocoa butter, I would not call that luxury.  But if something contains oils like rosehip seed, evening primrose, olive squalane, or camellia seed oils, or expensive butters like murumuru, cupuacu, or tucuma, then I would call those luxury.  Those are more expensive and exotic oils and tend to have different or “special” properties that can be used to tailor products to different skin types or skin issues (such as wrinkles, pigmentation and so forth).

Four Successful Lovely Lotions and Conditioners

Wow, I don’t know how time flies so fast!   I blinked my eyes and just like magic, it is Sunday night already!

Yesterday it was cloudy and rainy, so I spent most of the day taking pictures of the lotions I had made last weekend.   I only had time left to make one lotion last night.

Then today, I made 3 more lotions and managed to get some “draft” photos of them.  It was sunny again, so that always makes my camera non-compliant. Continue reading “Four Successful Lovely Lotions and Conditioners”
