Sadly, another Christmas vacation is now behind me, but what a time I had! I had two weeks of glorious freedom! While it did take a little while for me to get my muse focused, it did actually happen — eventually.
For the first week, I spent a good amount of time trying to figure out what I felt like doing. It was cold and snowy (I got my wish for a White Christmas!). I didn’t feel much like making lotion or soap — I just couldn’t get into washing all those dishes and getting wet when it was so cold out. So I decided to start out with sewing and see if that was what my muse wanted to do.

I am short on words this week. I just can’t think of anything much to say other than what a lovely weekend it was! So I guess I will just dive in to the details this time, rather than waxing philosophic.

I spent the weekend again “not” making soap or lotion again. I confess, it felt great to do something a little different, but I am getting ready to go back to soaping, probably next weekend.
My son told me that while he was cleaning out his storage unit, somebody walked away with a box of his Christmas decorations. Several years ago I had made him and his fiancée’ ridiculously large Christmas stockings. They loved them! They have a fondness for ridiculous things. Unfortunately, those stockings were in the box that walked away. 😦
Since the two of them are getting married next month, I decided to make them a new pair of Christmas stockings, just as ridiculous as the last ones. This should help them celebrate their first Christmas as husband and wife! Continue reading “It’s Ridiculous!”
Hi all! I have been away for a couple of weeks. I needed a break from work and from book writing, and maybe a little bit from creating too. I took 2 weeks to do just “whatever” instead of having a plan. Sometimes that is good for the soul!
My plans were somewhat interrupted due to the recent hurricanes and preparations for the next ones. This made me have a “working vacation” since it caused some extra work at work. At least I got to enjoy some free time in between “on call” events.
I started out last weekend with a quick visit “up north” to see my sister, nieces, and deliver all the goodies I have been making them. It was a nice trip, a beautiful day, and very enjoyable. Needless to say everything I gifted them was well-received. Especially the bath bombs — always the bath bombs! Continue reading “Menagerie – Vacation Round-Up”
This weekend was spent doing something different. I have been making soaps and lotions for so long, that my sewing fell behind schedule. I was able to catch it up this weekend, though, and I am just two projects short of being done.
To round out my gift to my sister and her girls when I go see them in a couple of weeks, I make them some cute pillowcases and cell phone wristlet purses.
I have made these for them many times before, but they so look forward every year to getting a new one. Continue reading “Something a little bit different”
Wow, what a weekend I had! I made 6 batches of bath bombs and two batches of soap!
I owe my sister a visit soon, and all the things I have been making for months are really stacking up! My dining room and kitchen were a total mess, but the way I see it, if you didn’t make a mess, then you weren’t having fun!

Unfortunately, I did not have such a great weekend this week. We had a storm on Thursday night which knocked out power to many customers around where I live. Luckily my power came back on Friday morning, but my Internet connection was down all day. It was sporadically out on Saturday as well.
I am thankful that we did not suffer some of the damage that others around here did, but it was real inconvenient without Internet for so long. So many things won’t work without an Internet connection. It’s easy to take for granted how “connected” you really are and be taken by surprise by the handicap when you are without it.
Aside from that, I also had a few chores to take care of this weekend, so I didn’t get as much done as I normally do. I did manage to get three lotions made though, which is better than nothing.
