Wow, this weekend went by so fast it! I can’t believe it is already over, but I guess that means that I enjoyed myself so much that time flew. Because I took pictures today, and had some chores to take care of, I only got time to get 2 more lotions completed. That’s 6 for the weekend — not bad at all!
It’s Saturday and I am at it again — making a mess in my kitchen.
Today, I made 4 different batches of lotions and every one of them (knock on wood) has turned out perfectly — exactly as I envisioned them. I love when that happens.
I won’t get a chance to get good pictures of the final products until tomorrow, but I took plenty of “making” pictures today! Continue reading “4 Attempts – 4 Successes – Perfect Saturday!”
When I visited my niece last weekend, she made a special request for some more french green clay soap. She said she really enjoyed the scent and liked using it to wash her face. She was almost out and wanted more.
I am on vacation from work this week, so I have plenty of free time to fill, doing what I love. So today, I made a refill batch of french green clay soap for her.
It has been a couple of months since I got a chance to make any soap. I was busy making bath and body treats and lately, with lotions. Today, however, I whipped up 2 batches of soap. I had almost forgotten how much I enjoy it. I also seem to have forgotten some of my soap-making routine (which cost me a few extra dirty dishes to wash). Luckily, they finished installing our replacement hot water heater today because I really needed hot water for all those dirty dishes.
I made two new recipes today: Peppermint Tea Tree Pumice & Zeolite Foot Scrub Soap and “yet to be named” Avobath type Shampoo Bars. Continue reading “Well, what do you know? This blog IS still about soap!”
Of the two soaps I made this weekend, one of them was ready to cut today. The other is a goat milk soap, so it will take longer to be ready for unmolding. This one, however, slid right out of the mold with no issues today.
I posted yesterday about this soap and at the time, I wanted to call it “birthday cake”, but when I cut it, and as I was taking photos, it seemed more like a party, so I decided instead to call it “birthday party”. Continue reading “Cutting of “Birthday Party” Soap”
After a brief pause from soap making, I am back. A couple of soaps finally cured and came off the drying rack, making room for more. It’s a good thing too because I am almost out of my favorite Pink Grapefruit Swirl shampoo bars and needed to make more. As it is, I might have to go without for a couple weeks while this soap finishes curing. Continue reading “Soaping again…A re-stock of Pink Grapefruit Swirl Shampoo Bars”
Earlier today I posted about my exciting batch of failed soap. That was so much fun, I decided to be experimental again and try out a totally new (for me) thing with inventing “the perfect shampoo bar”.
So I thought, “What would be the perfect ingredients for a shampoo bar?”. Well, I decided to take the “kitchen sink” approach (more is better) and go for it (my hair needs a lot of help). Continue reading “In search of the holy grail (in a shampoo bar)”
