Wow, this weekend went by so fast it! I can’t believe it is already over, but I guess that means that I enjoyed myself so much that time flew. Because I took pictures today, and had some chores to take care of, I only got time to get 2 more lotions completed. That’s 6 for the weekend — not bad at all!
It’s Saturday and I am at it again — making a mess in my kitchen.
Today, I made 4 different batches of lotions and every one of them (knock on wood) has turned out perfectly — exactly as I envisioned them. I love when that happens.

I am a newbie lotion formulator on a quest to replace all the expensive and unhealthy lotions in my home. There are several brands that I use regularly that I would really love to replace.
One of the brands I use is Cetaphil (the kind that comes in a jar, not the pump bottle). It’s a very thick, white, unscented cream that I spread all over my hands, arms, and back every night before I go to bed. Unfortunately, I like to slather it on, and it costs about $15 a jar, even at Costco. (Costco does give you a 20 oz. jar and an 8.8 oz. jar for this price). Since fall is fast approaching, I wanted to honor the autumn season with a soap befitting of crisp, cool, days, falling leaves and apple cider. The only thing that is missing is the hay ride!
I had some Pure Honey and AppleJack & Peel fragrance oils and they smelled so great together that I decided to use them in this batch of soap. AppleJack smells like sharp apple cider. It’s apple-y and spicy. The Pure Honey fragrance tones it down a little bit and gives it a little sweetness. Together it smells more like apple pie or sweet cider. It is a good match.
